On May 25th the Knox
County Sheriff’s Office investigated a single vehicle crash involving three
people. The crash occurred on Rt. 131 in South Thomaston near Alder Lane. One passenger, Zachary Elwell,
21, of St. George was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver, Kelsey Campbell,
19, of South Thomaston and another passenger, Austin Jurkowski, 19 of St.
George were transported to the hospital with minor injuries.
Witnesses
stated that the car was travelling at a high rate of speed and had just passed
a vehicle before losing control and going off the road, striking many trees and
rolling over multiple times. The
deceased person was ejected from the vehicle.
It is also believed that alcohol is a contributing factor.
Knox County Sheriff’s Office Reconstruction
and Mapping Teams are continuing with the investigation.
South Thomaston Fire and Ambulance, St. George Fire
Dept. and Thomaston Fire Dept. also assisted at the scene as well as Knox County Regional Communications
Dispatchers helping coordination of all involved.

Knox County Sheriff's Office seeking help from the public - Missing Person from Lewiston - Kevin Mitchell
The
Knox County Sheriff’s Office is searching for a person reported missing out of
Lewiston. At approximately 9:15 p.m. last
night, Deputies were called regarding a suspicious vehicle located on Mt.
Pleasant Rd. in Union. Information
gathered there led them to the vehicle belonging to a Kevin Mitchell, 44, of
Lewiston.
Mitchell has been reported missing by his wife since Saturday. Mitchell apparently has ties in this area from when he was younger. A search of the area where the vehicle was located by Knox County Sheriff’s Office and Maine Warden Service K-9 Units has not turned up anything.
The Knox County Sheriff’s Office is concerned for his well being and seeking the assistance of the local public for any information leading to the whereabouts of Mr. Mitchell. He is described as 6 ft. 1 inch tall, 220 lbs. with graying hair and blue eyes.

Two Deceased in Fatal Accident on Route 1 in Warren - May 1, 2017
Knox
County Sheriff’s Office responded to a three vehicle crash on Rt. 1, near the
intersection of the Stirling Rd. in Warren this morning at around 6:20.
Apparently, for a reason not known at this time, a vehicle driven by Kenneth Chipman III, 57 of Warren, travelling northbound, crossed the centerline. The 2017 Toyota sedan collided with a southbound 2007 Toyota SUV driven by Evan Aurelio, 32, of Winterport along the driver’s side, spinning that vehicle around and then Chipman struck head-on into a 2008 Land Rover SUV, driven by Cheryl Brimson, 67, of Rockport. John Brimson, (husband) 68, also of Rockport was a passenger in the vehicle.
Kenneth Chipman III and Cheryl Brimson were killed instantly. John Brimson was taken to the hospital by Warren Ambulance and Aurelio was checked at the scene by EMS and released after being interviewed.
Knox County Sheriff’s Office response team is currently mapping and reconstructing the crash to try to determine a cause. Road remains closed.
Warren and Waldoboro Fire and EMS assisted at the scene.
