Knox County Drug Take-Back Program

The Knox County Sheriff's Office, with the assistance of the Knox County Emergency Management Agency, has placed a Prescription Drug Take-Back box in the lobby of the Sheriff's Office. The Maine Sheriffs' Association (MSA) "Drug Take-Back" program was such a success this past April that the Knox County Sheriff's Office decided to make that option available to citizens on a daily basis rather than once a year. Anyone wishing to dispose of their expired, unused or unwanted prescription drugs may drop them off in the green box in the lobby of the Knox County Sheriff's Office at the Knox County Public Safety Building at 301 Park Street in Rockland.

The following items can be put in the drop-off box:
prescription patches
medications and ointments
over-the-counter medications
vitamins
samples
pet medications

We cannot accept these following items:
needles
thermometers
inhalers
aerosol cans
hydrogen peroxide and ointments
lotions
liquids

If you have any questions about this drug take-back program, please contact Chief Deputy Tim Carroll at 594-0429 ext. 702.
