With summer in full swing, the Knox County Sheriff’s
Office, along with the assistance of several local law enforcement agencies,
will be conducting random safety checkpoints, or roadblocks, throughout the County
through the end of the summer season.
Often we are asked, “What is the purpose of a safety
checkpoint?” Checkpoints serve many purposes, but at the end of the day, we are
assuring that our fellow motorists are doing their part in being safe and
helping to keep all of us safe on the road.
The checkpoints will be conducted at various times and
locations during the next few months. Please double check your vehicle,
passengers, and yourself, before setting off. You never know when you maybe asked,
“Can I check to see that you being a safe motorist tonight?”
