Crash on Finntown Road in Warren - April 12, 2016

On April 12, 2016 at 1:37 p.m., the Knox County Sherriff’s Office, along with Warren Fire & Rescue Departments and Waldoboro EMS, responded to the area of 917 Finntown Road in Warren for a report of a single vehicle crash into a tree. The 17-year-old juvenile operator was driving a 1991 Toyota Corolla, North bound on the Finntown road when the vehicle failed to negotiate a curve in the roadway. The vehicle slid off the roadway and sideswiped a large tree, becoming airborne and crushing part of its roof down.

The two occupants of the vehicle became trapped inside. Speed and driver inexperience are both factors in this crash. Both driver and passenger had to be extricated from the vehicle and were transported to Pen Bay Medical Center.

The operator sustained serious life threatening injuries as a result of the crash and was listed in critical condition. The 16-year-old passenger suffered minor injuries. The families of those involved were notified. The names are not being released due to both being juveniles.
