Two Vehicle Crashes - Hope and Owls Head - April 6, 2017

#1 Hope:  Deputy Scott Redmun responded to a reported crash on the Camden Road in Hope at 8:15 p.m. last night. Joshua Gray, 33, of Union stated he swerved to avoid a small dog in the road and lost control of the 2008 GMC Utility truck he was operating. The vehicle travelled along the ditch before riding upon an embankment that caused the truck to rollover on its’ driver’s side. Gray complained of leg pain but refused treatment. It was discovered that Gray’s license was also suspended and was summonsed for same by Deputy Redmun. The truck was towed from the scene.

Hope Fire Dept. and Northeast Ambulance assisted at the scene.

#2 Owls Head:  Deputies Arthur Smith and Jeremy Joslyn responded to a crash on Ash Point Rd. in Owls Head at approx. 4:00 p.m. yesterday. Those involved stated that Charles Johanson, 27, of Thomaston backed out of a driveway and was struck by Kyle McCarthy, 23, of Rockport. Apparently, McCarthy tried to go around Johanson as he backed out of the driveway, but Johanson turned into the path of McCarthy causing the collision.

McCarthy was driving a 2001 Dodge SUV and Johanson was driving a 2015 Ford truck. 

An adult passenger in McCarthy’s vehicle was transported to PBMC for knee pain by Rockland Rescue. No one else was injured.

Owls Head Fire Dept. and Rockland Fire and Rescue assisted at the scene.
