Knox County burglaries - Public asked to remain vigilant

The Knox County Sheriff's Department and the Police Departments for Thomaston, Rockport, Camden, and Rockland, are working together on burglaries that took place at three different Knox County businesses in the last 10 days. These businesses were broken into and their safes were cleaned out by the thieves.

With this weekend being a holiday weekend, it is fairly common for businesses to have extra cash on hand, and thieves are looking to take advantage of that. Businesses are strongly encouraged to make nightly deposits to limit the amount of cash at the business. If you are concerned about your safety when making your night depository, contact your local law enforcement agency to provide an escort.

We encourage the public to call 9-1-1 if you see any suspicious activity, especially if it is within the vicinity of businesses. If you hear an alarm going off, do not assume law enforcement has already been notified; please call 9-1-1 so law enforcement can check it out. If you see or hear something, say something.
